1. Who we are

This website is operated by Walteryanis Limited (RC 7254390), a consulting and advisory firm registered in Nigeria, with its office at Plot 1113, Constitution Avenue, Central Business District, Abuja, FCT. In this policy, “Walteryanis”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Walteryanis Limited.

We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, and we process it in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the regulations and guidance issued by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

2. Scope of this policy

This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal data when you visit walteryanis.com, contact us, or engage with us as a partner or prospective partner. Personal data we process while delivering an engagement is also governed by the terms agreed for that engagement.

3. The information we collect

  • Information you give us. When you use our contact form we collect your name, organisation, email address, sector and the details of your mandate. If you email, call or message us (including by WhatsApp), we collect the information you choose to share, including any documents.
  • Information collected automatically. Our website and hosting provider record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the date and time of your visit. This is used to operate, secure and improve the site.
  • Information from engagements. When we work with you, we process the business contact details of your representatives and the information needed to deliver the agreed work.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data through this website. Please do not send it to us unless we have asked for it.

4. How we use your information and our lawful bases

We use personal data only where the NDPA allows it. Specifically, we use it to:

  • respond to your enquiry and assess a possible engagement (your consent, or steps taken at your request before entering into a contract);
  • deliver and manage engagements with our partners (performance of a contract);
  • keep our website, systems and communications secure and working properly (our legitimate interests);
  • keep records and meet our legal, regulatory and tax obligations (legal obligation).

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.

5. Cookies

This website uses only cookies and similar technologies that are strictly necessary for it to work and to protect it from spam and abuse. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If this changes, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

6. Who we share your information with

We do not sell or rent personal data. We share it only where necessary with:

  • service providers who host our website and deliver our email, acting on our instructions and under appropriate confidentiality and data protection terms;
  • professional advisers such as lawyers, auditors and insurers;
  • regulators, courts, law enforcement or other authorities where the law requires it.

7. International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens, we transfer personal data only in line with Part VIII of the NDPA, for example where the recipient country provides an adequate level of protection or where appropriate safeguards are in place.

8. How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry information for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless it leads to an engagement. Engagement records are kept for as long as needed to deliver the work and to meet our legal, contractual and regulatory obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

9. How we protect your information

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to our systems and confidentiality obligations for our team and service providers. If a personal data breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify the NDPC and, where required, you, as the NDPA requires.

10. Your rights

Under the NDPA, you have the right to:

  • be informed about how your personal data is used;
  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
  • have your data erased, or its processing restricted, in the circumstances set out in the law;
  • object to processing, including for direct marketing;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time;
  • not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that significantly affects you.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@walteryanis.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we will respond within the time set by the law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at ndpc.gov.ng.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
